• K.V. 2, has been selected as British Council School Ambassador.
• On 10th August, in continuation of Maths Mela, Young leaders accompanied the 68 students of K.V. No. 2 to NCPA to see the play “A DISAPPEARING NUMBER” based on the life of Prof. Ramanujam.
• Young leaders of Dreams and Teamsclub participated in the debate “India Transition to Low Carbon Economy” at British Council Office on 19/8/10 and the challenges put by the team were appreciated by the judges
• Dreams and Teams club orgganised a workshop under the project ‘Imapct of Climate Change on Mumbai on 27th August. Mr Rish Agarwal, a well known Mumbai Environmentalist addressed the students and had an interactive session with the students of higher section.
• On 28th August, Young leaders alongwith the link teacher Mrs Sunita Dhaka participated in the Group Discussion “Youth Led Development” organized by ORF and UNHabital chaired by Mrs Supriya Sule (Rajya Sabha MP).

• 73 students in all are participating in Regional Level Sports Competition under various events.
• Mr Amlan Bhattacharya and Ms. Supriya, Scientists from TIFR conducted a seminar under IRIS on “Making of Science Projects at International Level” on 5/08/2010. 2 representatives from VI to VII and 4 representative from IX to XII attended it.

 

School organised Maths Mela function on 23/7/10 and 24/7/10. The objective of this Math Mela was to remove Math Phobia from the minds of today’s children and direct them towards a path which leads to their willful involvement in mathematics.

eight schools viz. KV 1 Colaba , KV3 Colaba, KV Hamla, Army School Colaba,KV Bhandup, KV Mankhurd KV IIT Powai and KV Koliwada visited this mela

34 students alongwith 4 escorts went on excursion to Banglore, Mysore and Ooty in the first week of April at the expense of Vidyalaya.

Vidyalaya celebrated its Annual day on 19/4/2010. Commodore Amar .K. Mahadevan was present as Chief Guest on the event to bless the children.

Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2, Colaba actively participated with the rest of the world and celebrated the EARTH DAY on the 22nd April 2010.

19 students went to Panchmari under trekking programme from 23/4/2010 to 30/4/2010.

Vidyalaya conducted Young leader cascade training programme from 26/4/2010 to 30/4/2010 under youth sports leadership programme and organized Mini-Festival on 30th April.6 students from KV 3, 9 students from KV 1 and 25 students from KV 2, Colaba respectively were trained as Young Leaders.

 

NAVY WEEK

Dr. Gopa Chakrabarthy, the Music Teacher of our school, who was the lone female escort, displayed her valour by reaching from one ship to the other and back with the help of pulley set with rope. By doing so she got the accolades of one and all including the Naval Officer, present on the occasion. The trip of kV children was arranged to the event of Navy week.

VISIT TO TIFR

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai organised a Public Lecture on 'THE BIOLOGY OF ADDICTION' by Prof Eric Nestler on 4/2/10 in the Homi Bhabha Auditorium, TIFR, Mumbai.

Seven students from our school were escorted to the Lecture by Mrs Radha S (PGT Bio). Prof Eric told about the DRUG ADDICTION and the good and bad effects of Drugs on Brain. Students also visited the exhibition on the late Homi Bhabha 's life and his efforts towards Science.

RED RIBBON EXPRESS

Twenty students from 11th(science) were escorted by Mrs Radha Subramanian and Mrs Ameeta Bhattacharya to Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus on 22/01/10 to visit RED RIBBON EXPRESS.

There they visited a bogie with AIDS awareness programme goin on it. They were given a lot of information on AIDS, HIV etc. They were also shown presentations by the counsellors who themselves were the victim of Aids.

A Session With The Indian Coast Guard

On the 13th January, our school was privileged to have Mr Habber along with his team to enlighten us about the Indian Coast Guard. The programme was attended by 11th standard students. It involved a presentation, a short movie on the Indian Coast Guard, and interactive session along with some insights about career prospects in the Indian Coast Guard.

Report Times NIE Workshop

Prof. Mohan Rao Rane, conducted a workshop, organised by the Time NIE on 15th Jan 10. This workshop was based on the Career Guidance for students..

This programme involved a powerpoint presentation , interactive session and an understanding on the career prospects.
